Character Design
lolita
This character is based on Vladimir Nabokov's beautiful descriptions of Dolores Haze, the 12-14 year old girl of Humbert Humbert’s dreams, in the classic 1955 novel, Lolita.
Her childishness is often overlooked in favour of her beauty however it is one of the most important elements of her character and very tragic life so I wanted my portrayal of her to reflect that.
I made sure to give her a fun and colourful outfit fitting to her age, personality and the time the story takes place (late 1940’s). However her clothes also reflect Humbert’s desires.

Goomer’s Adventures
Goomer is a tiny bat who lives in the hollow of a really old and massive eucalyptus tree with her large bat community. Everyday she goes out exploring in the nearby city and discovers new and fun things!!
The weird things that the big smooth creatures do intrigue her! and she likes to collect the weird items from their weird forest.
She’s a super fun and adventurous bat who always likes to do new things. Everyone else in her tree is a little cautious of her crazy attitude and fearless nature, meaning that sometimes she is a little cast out of her community and has to continually learn new things about herself and the world around her!
Goomer is designed for puppet animation and targeted towards 4-8 year old children. All of this was taken into consideration throughout the design process. Similarly Goomer’s stories and struggles reflect some of the issues primary school aged children would realistically face in a fun and light-hearted way.

Elephant
Action poses and an expression sheet for one of the main characters in Elephant, the daughter who is dealing with her mother’s dementia throughout the film.
Ceasefire
I designed the secondary main character for the film, Ceasefire, including all of the necessary animation sheets and guides. This design is a part of a complete project style change and was based on initial artwork by Jomei Nguyen. Stephany is a young Australian girl who lives the typical Australian life. She is the complete antithesis of the main character, Rawiya and is used to intentionally contrast and therefore push the horrors happening in Gaza.
The Grave house
These three characters, Bubz (short for Beelzebub), Mophead (no one knows his real name) and Glitch are all room-mates…for some reason. None of them particularly like each other and all of them have their own set of extremely dark secrets. The longer they spend together, though, the more they learn to live with each other and even like each other.
The Ice-cream Fantasy
In this project I worked with a small group to make an ice-cream advertisement, selling a fictional maple and bacon flavoured ice-cream. We created a fantasy world on top of the product, filled with a maple river, bacon trees and a creature made of ice-cream with popsicle stick antlers. These assets were used in the final animation and the ice-cream monster was completely designed by me.
