Stewart
Stewart is a nice…creature. He works in finance, he shows up on time, he loves his job and numbers and whatever else people in finance do.
However he also is nothing like that whatsoever.
This is a creature I designed and sculpted based on the Irish water demon, Nuckalavee. It is a large, skinless horse man who lives in the ocean and occasionally ventures to shore. To push this idea I made some personal adjustments to the original image. Since he lives in the ocean, I gave him more fish-like qualities including a large tail to help him swim and a head similar to that of an angler fish (totally wasn’t because I didn’t want to sculpt the head…). I also removed the ears on the horse head to assist him moving through the water and gave him gills so he is able to breath down there. Since he is also a predator that feasts on living creatures when he comes to shore, I somewhat adjusted his jaw to be fitting of that and gave him large fangs also.
Sculpting my boy, Stew was at times very difficult, especially as someone with no previous experience with and CGI oriented programs or pipelines whatsoever, however I am happy with how he turned out.
When texturing him I tried to make him look as unappealing and creepy and gross as possible. I really hope he freaks you out at least a little bit.
I’m very greatful to the amazing people who helped me through this project because I genuinely could not have done it without help. However, it is unlikely I will be touching Zbrush (or Maya, or Substance painter) again at least for a while. CGI is not for me!
